Thymus serpyllum 'Coccineus'

Red flowers up to 7cm (3in) from June to August and growing 45cm (18in) wide. Prefers well drained soil in full sun.

It is one of the brightest of thymes, with its flowers contrasting with the dark green foliage. Leaves assume a bronze hue in the autumn. It is thought to have been introduced in the late 19th century from a Yorkshire nursery.
