Roscoea purpurea Sultan Group

Red, purple or lilac flowers up to 45cm (18in) from July to September and growing 30cm (12in) wide. Prefers retentive soil in light shade.

A surprisingly hardy member of the ginger family which comes from the Himalayas. This strain was developed by Keith Wiley of Wildside Nursery in Devon. Late emergence is followed by quick growth into bushy clumps. Very exotic looking when pot or container grown.
