Polygonatum verticillatum 'Rubrum'

Pale pinky-purple flowers up to 100cm (40in) from June to July and growing 45cm (18in) wide. Happy in most good garden soils in shade.

A form of our rare native woodlander, it does not occur naturally in this country, but comes from China. The stems are also exceptionally dark coloured. A very elegant plant that may have red berries briefly until the birds find them.
