Gladiolus papilio

Pinkish yellow flowers flushed purple up to 90cm (36in) from July to September and growing 30cm (12in) wide. Prefers well drained soil in sun.

“Butterfly Gladiolus”. It is native to the highlands of South Africa and hardy in gardens. It flowers better in good soil, but you have to watch out because slugs like emerging shoots.
