Geranium phaeum 'Samobor'

Dark purple-red flowers up to 60cm (24in) from May to June and growing 45cm (18in) wide. Happy in most garden soils in shade.

Introduced by the Orkney farmer, Alan Bremner. It is a hybrid between G. renardii and G. platypetalum, the neat, mound-forming grey foliage having the characteristics of G. renardii. Good in hot dry spots.
