Corydalis solida 'George Baker'

Brick red flowers up to 15cm (6in) from April to May and growing 20cm (8in) wide. Prefers well drained, humus rich soil in light shade.

A plant of open woodland in northern central Europe. A source of nectar and pollen for early bees which fertilise the flowers, then the seeds are distributed by ants. A selection of the species collected in Romania and named after the plantsman George Baker in about 1977.
