Colchicum agrippinum

Lilac-pink flowers up to 10cm (4in) from September to October and growing 10cm (4in) wide. Prefers well drained soil in sun.

It was awarded its Award of Garden Merit in 1993. This is an old garden plant that is not known in the wild. E. A. Bowles wonders whether it is a hybrid between C. variegatum and C autumnale in his “Handbook of Crocus and Colchicum”. The leaves are small enough to make this suitable for a rock-garden.
