Aquilegia alpina

Blue flowers up to 60cm (24in) from May to June and growing 30cm (12in) wide. Happy in most garden soils in sun or light shade.

European Alps. This “columbine” comes from high meadows and open woodland. Prefers alkaline soils. Good in more wild garden conditions as well as the normal border sites.
